Football Fanatics Fantasy Diary

Dear Fantasy Football Diary,

All I can say is…F*** Yeah!  I won 3 out 4 games this weekend.  In my paid leagues I had my match-ups against the same dude.  Good buddy of mine, but he had to be beaten.  I did just that.

Both match-ups went to MNF.  I had a commanding lead going into the game.  He had in both leagues Houston’s D.  I was up by 27 in one and 28 in the other.  I know its possible that a D can score that much.  We saw it happen this weekend with Chicago’s D.  It did not settle well with me knowing that Houston was going up against a deflated team like the Jets.  I thought they would just crush them.  Not even make the game close.

As soon as the Jets score their first TD, I was pumping my fist in joy.  I knew that my chances of a dual beat down was very very close.   The defining moment of deciding VIctory was when the Jets ran a kickoff back for a TD.

All along, I had these match-ups in hand.  Stranger things have happened to me in the past.  I stay a little hesitant to celebrate or relax about the wins.   This weekend makes me feel real good about my fantasy teams.  Ever since my big trade in my main league, things are looking up.

I am 10 out of 12 in “FJM”.  I am 2 out of 10 in my “CBC 4 life”.  Its definitely not time to get cocky.  I like where the road is leading me at the moment.  Gotta keep this mojo going…”Smelly Pirate Hooker” and “Stage 5 Clinger”!

Chargers got Blitzed by the NFL, Referees!

We were all witness’s to the BS the Chargers were put through last night on SNF.  Drew Brees and his Saints are the NFL’s little darlings.  They could not believe they were are 0-4 going into the game.  They knew of his chances at this record when they were making the schedule in the offseason.  They did what they could to sabotage the Chargers chances at ruining this stupid party that should not have been allowed in the first place.

Roger Goodell should be ashamed of himself.  Allowing all the Saints suspended coach’s and staff to attend the game.  It goes against anything and everything he has said he is.  He never stands by the punishment he hands out.   He softens the punishment because He believes it is in the best interest of the NFL for Drew Brees to get his way.  WRONG WRONG WRONG.

Drew Brees got the record.  SO WHAT!!!  He did not deserve the win.  The Chargers got hosed by a terrible officiating crew.  The ghostly calls on the last drive are proof enough.  The Saints could not stop the Chargers.  Only the Ref’s could.  They saw it.  Once they saw the Chargers making plays easily down the field, they had to step in and make sure the Saints were to celebrate the right way with a W.  The Saints were clearly holding and pushing and shoving all night.  No calls were made.  The Chargers barely touched them and got the flag thrown.

The play Melvin Ingram made on the Pick 6 hurt.  That was the correct call.  I hate to admit to that but it was.  The game was clearly in our favor at that point.  We fought back through adversity to make a run to tie or win on the final drive.  The NFL wanted no part in that.  They wanted this night to belong to the Cheating Saints.  The NFL cheated along with them.  The NFL does what it wants and we have to suffer for it.  An injustice was done and clearly they play the innocent card.

These Ref’s wether being the old ones or the replacement Ref’s can not get a call right when they have to.  This is hurting the sport of football.  The fans will still watch, but every play is now under scrutiny.

The NFL has always had something against the San DIego Chargers.  I have been saying this for years.  Teams always getting away with everything.  We get penalized for the tiniest mistakes.  Do you call that fair judgement?  I dont.

The NFL needs to act like the NCAA.  They have to power to vacate wins.  This game as well as the Packers/Seahawks game need to be overturned.  These wins are a travesty to the fans and the sport.  All of America’s eye’s were watching SNF.  Everyone saw the same plays made.  They saw a team getting beat down on their own turf and had help from the Ref’s to stop the embarrassing loss they were going to receive.

Only 2 players in the NFL get the protection that is clearly in their favor.  Drew Brees and Tom Brady.  We know the history.  Both players are the NFL’s poster boys and need to be protected at all costs.

Will the NFL admit to these statements..NO.  The proof is in the games, the new rules set in place, the hype they give these teams.  The rest of America has to suffer while the NFL dictates what the outcome of games will be.

I hope and pray my Chargers are not mentally stung by this loss as I am.  I hope this team comes back with a vengeance and rips apart opposing teams the rest of the season.  I love my Chargers and will be a passionate voice behind them for the rest of my life.  Stand up and fight back the NFL and the monster it is turning in to.  The shield only cares for its own interests.

Bolt Up San Diego and be proud of this courageous team as they fight the uphill battle clearly against them.  GO CHARGERS!!!

Football Fanatics Fantasy Diary

Dear Fantasy Football Diary,

I had a .500 kinda week.   I went 2-2 out of my 4 leagues.  Both of my paid league teams won.  That is a big fist pump of joy.  My biggest feat of the week was earning my first win against my wife in our main league “FJM”.  My work league, I crushed him.  Had the biggest blowout of the week with 104 – 58.

In “FJM” I am still sitting in 12th out of 12.  Thats fine with me, for the moment that is.  I am still in the hunt.  The league is still up for grabs.  3 teams are at 3-1, 6 teams at 2-2, 3 teams at 1-3.  I have to keep the momentum going.  My big trade last week was very beneficial immediately.  They gave me the boost I needed to snatch my first win away from my wife.  All week, we bantered back and forth.  She was sooo excited to beat me.  HAHA.  I WON.  Self HIgh Five!!!

This week I am going against the champ from 2 years ago.  He is at 3-1, sitting atop in the league.  In fact, I play him in both leagues this week.  The projected points are pretty much dead even.  I have a .04 advantage.  We all know that these numbers mean diddly squat.  They are hardly close when the games are all said and done.  From here on out my team is primed to moved up in the rankings!!!

My work league.  I am doing good, so far.  3-1 sitting 3rd out of 10 is not too shabby.  My team has played well together.  They are meshing nicely.  My opponent has a good team with plenty of potential to blow up the score.  The projected score is very close again.  111 to 103 in my favor.  This is a crucial matchup for me.  I want this win.

Overall, I am excited for this weekend.  I am excited for every weekend.  I love Football.  Especially since Fantasy Football came into my life.  They go hand in hand, like two little kids holding hands skipping down the playground.  Happy as can be and unaware of the realities of life around them.  In total bliss.  Yup.  Thats Me.

This Fans View of the Refs!!!

Last night. Early this morning, the NFL announced that they have come to terms on an agreement with the Ref’s Union.  Thats great news for everyone.  Does that mean the real Ref’s will make all the right calls?  NO.  We have been complaining about the officiating in the NFL since I can remember.  Blown calls every game.

The replacement Ref’s were not good for the game of football.  It was an embarrassment to watch them blow call after call.  This past weekend’s games were a perfect example of how bad the officiating has been in the NFL.  Replacement Ref’s or not, they have been terrible.

It will be better for football to have them back in action.  Im sure they will feel good to back to work.  I am a fan of the few well known Ref’s.  They make watching a game a lil more exciting.  But they are human, and being human brings error along the way.  They will hear all the criticism after they make there first blown call.  They always miss the constant holding from certain teams.  It’s like the league allows them to get away with it.  Only call the obvious calls.

As long as the Ref’s get it right.  Get the rules’s right.  The league has changed from a hard-nosed smack you in the face league to a much more cautionary approach.  I agree with some of the new precautions.  I DO NOT AGREE with the favoritism they have for certain teams and players.  Rules they make to protect all players is one thing.  Rules made for certain teams is BS!!!

The Ref’s need to let the players play the game and not dictate the action and flow of the game.  Too many instances that the Ref’s control the game.  Its not about you Ref’s.  Its about the game being played the right way.  If they can make the right calls, we all will benefit and enjoy the game we all LOVE.

Football Fanatics Fantasy Diary

Dear Fantasy Football Diary,

I had a good weekend as far as Fantasy Football is concerned.  Winning 3 out of 4 games. My favorite league tho, is a whole different story.  I lost.  Sitting at 0-3 like the New Orleans Saints :).  Again I made bad choices.  I choose to go with Matt Cassel against the New Orleans Saints D over Peyton Manning against the Houston Texans D.  Matt Cassel has played from behind the last couple of games, so I figured it would be the same scenario this week.  Peyton did not have the greatest outing against the Atlanta Falcons.  I thought this was an easy choice.  Even all the fantasy guru’s said the same thing.  Start Cassel over Manning.  WE WERE ALL WRONG.

Next mistake I made was swapping my TE’s from Jacob Tamme to Kellen Winslow.  I know he just signed with the New England Patriots. I know he needs more time to get the flow of the offense.  I figured that the Baltimore Ravens D would double cover Rob Gronkowski all night.  Winslow had 1 catch for 12 yards.  Not good.  Jacob Tamme only put up about 3 to 4 points himself, so I dont feel too bad about that one.

I have Robert Meachum and Eddie Royal for WR’s.  They both have not been a great part of the San Diego Chargers passing attack just yet.  I drop Robert Meachum, looking for someone who has been productive the first two weeks, I see that Brandon Gibson of the St. Louis Rams is there, pick him up.  He has had TD’s in both of the first 2 games.  Not many yards but he is productive.  Hoping to grab 7-10 points from him.  He stank.  He did not do what I was hoping for him to do.  19 yards was all he did.  1.9 points to be precise.  Terrible.  Another bad choice on my behalf.  I really am terrible as of late with my picks.

The only bright spot on my team “Smelly Pirate Hooker” was the New York Giants RB Andre Brown.  He had a wonderful game.  Very productive giving me 25 total points.  That’s a fantastic game.  I was sitting there after the Thursday Night Game at 29 points with Victor Cruz putting up 4, thinking I have a great chance to win this week.  Boy was I let down.  Especially since the wife and I went to the game in San Diego against the Falcons.  What a bad experience that was.   Note to self…Please somehow someway forget that one.

Being at 0-3, I have to make some serious moves to make a run at the playoffs.  My season is far from over but something must be done.  I make a trade with last years champ.  We trade 4 for 4.  I give up RB LeSean McCoy, WR Julio Jones, TE Jacob Tamme, RB Jonathan Dwyer and get in return WR Wes Welker, WR Larry Fitzgerald, TE Jermichael Finley, and RB Jacquizz Rodgers.  Hoping no one Veto’s the trade.  This may come back to bite me in the arse later but I have to do something.

Now I have 3 stud WR’s.  My RB’s situation may be in a little disarray, but it can work.  I grabbed a legit #1 TE.  The only problem with Finley is that Green Bay has so many weapons to choose from.  Aaron Rodgers slings the ball all over the field.  It ihas been a while since Finley has had a great game.

I hope this new influx of talent does me some good from here on out.  I want my trophy back….Smelly Pirate Hooker is on the charge now, WATCH OUT FJM.

Chargers vs. Falcons

Here we are in week 3 of the NFL Season.  Both the San Diego Chargers and the Atlanta Falcons are sitting at 2-0.  Both teams have looked impressive in there wins.  The Falcons take the egde as far as the teams they have beaten.  The Falcons Defense looked impressive in the 1rst  quarter of MNF against the hated Denver Donkies.  Peyton Manning threw 3 pics in the first 8 mins of play.  They created a fumble later in the quarter making 4 turnovers in one qt. of play.  Very Very Impressive.

The Falcons D plays fast and physical.  They added some great talent in the offseason.  They traded for the great cornerback Asante Samuel.  He is playmaker.  The definition of a playmaker.  He has great football instincts.  They may have the best cornerback tandem in the NFL with Dunta Robinson on the other side.

The offense of the Atlanta Falcons definitely brings concern to every opposing defense.  They have playmakers at every skill position.  Roddy White, Julio Jones(who is on my fantasy team), Michael Turner, future HOF Tony Gonzalez.  Any one of these guys can bring havoc to any defense.  With Matt Ryan(Matty Ice) at the helm, this is a team to be reckoned with.

The San Diego Chargers are up for a real challenge this week.  I believe they will rise up to that challenge and finally have some credit brought to this team.  Many believe the Chargers are not as good as the record shows.  This game will be a great test to see what we are made of.  This game has a potential “Super Bowl” written all over it.

If both sides of the ball can play the way they have been playing so far, we have a chance to win this game.  We need to play mistake free football.  So far this season we have.  Lets keep this mojo rolling through the Falcons this weekend.  Only 1 team is leaving The “Q” with a 3-0 record.  Let’s make sure its our beloved San Diego Chargers.

This game will go down to who has the ball last.  San Diego Chargers will come out on top 31-27.

GO CHARGERS!!! BOLT UP SAN DIEGO!!!

Football Fanatics Fantasy Diary

Dear Diary,

My Fantasy Football teams had a terrible going this weekend.  Week 2 of the NFL did not do me justice…at all.  In fact it screwed me.  I was a rag doll left behind for a dog to use as it’s new drool toy.   Sad, Sad, Sad.  It almost brought tears to my eyes.  0-4 for week 2.  AHHHHHH.  I want to shout to the football Gods, “Why” “Why me”?  What have I done to have my players play so bad.

Lets start with my first mistake.  I have both Green Bay and Cincy’s defense.  I started Cincy over Green Bay thinking the Chicago Bears would make this a close game.  I did not think they would put up 19 pts.  My thought was Cincy’s D against a rookie QB in Cleveland.  That backfired.  Big time.

Second mistake.  I grab the rookie WR Alshon Jeffery off the waiver wire thinking he may put up 5 to 6 pts. after his week 1 performance.  .7 is what he gave me.  7 yards.  Thats 7 yards.

My 3rd mistake was switching Robert Meachum to my flex spot instead of Jonathon Dwyer.  Meachum gave me a whopping 0.  A doughnut.  A big fat not even glazed doughnut.  Come-on man.  Give me some love.  He had 4 passes his way and did nothing with them.  Dwyer did not do so well for himself either.  He has suffered a turf toe injury that could knock him out for a bit.  I need to find a replacement back up RB.

My stud Julio Jones put a enormous 1.5.  WTF?  Really?  He did not get many targets this game.  Roddy White took all the receptions.  No love for you Julio.

Peyton Manning looked old.  Very old.  His receiving corp does not look to promising at the moment.  Jacob Tamme success comes directly from Manning and he did not get much love from Manning.

“FJM” is the league I care for most and I am sitting 0-2, ranked 11 out of 12.  So far, a great start to my fantasy football season.   Let’s go team.  I think I need to change things up a bit…A name change sounds good.  “Smelly Pirate Hooker” sounds like a winner to me!

!!!GameDay!!!

Love GameDay!  The Best a Football Fan can ask for.  We all celebrate this tradition in many ways. I personally love to just wake up, plop on the couch, turn on the TV and find me some Football.  Anything and Everything Football!  It’s like your a kid at Christmas, but this is every Sunday for the next 5 months.  The next 5 months will go by so fast and we will yearn every Sunday after till the next GameDay.  Enjoy your GameDay!  I know I will.

Got my fantasy stats on my macbook posted up on stool watching all the scores.  Just chuckled cuz I saw Tom Brady has -1 for an int.  HAHA  first throw.  You Suck Brady!

GO CHARGERS!!!  SAN DIEGO BOLT UP!!!

Fantasy Fever!!!

This year I am in 2 paid leagues.   After week 1, my teams are 1-0 and 0-1.

Let’s start with the most important league “FJM”.  My team “DIrty Bong Water” was not looking to good in the AM games on Sunday.  My opponent took a big lead that I was never really ever able to come back from.  Peyton Manning lead my somewhat try for a comeback.  LeSean McCoy did not have the game I needed him to have.  If Victor Cruz can catch and the late TD run by Jonathon Dwyer counted, I could of been in this one.  I lost 106.22 to 122.08 to last years chump, I mean Champ.

My starters  QB Peyton Manning, WR’s Victor Cruz, Julio Jones, Justin Blackmon, RB’s LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles, TE Jacob Tamme, WR/RB Jonathon Dwyer, DEF Green Bay, K Matt Prater.

Now onto  my work league.  This was is real fun.  We talk fantasy football all shift long, everyday.  Whats more fun than that.  My team “Stage 5 Clinger”.  I was down by 30 pts once the afternoon games started.  My team took off and kept going.  Aaron Rodgers did not disappoint fantasy owners.  Baltimore’s D helped out a lot.  Thanks ED REED.  The rest of my team did pretty well.  I won in the end.  Yessss!  115.82 to 103.64

My starters  QB Aaron Rodgers, WR’s A.J. Green, Mike Wallace, Eric Decker, RB’s MJD, Darren Sproles, TE Jared Cook, WR/RB Reggie Wayne, D Baltimore, K Jason Hanson.

The long and fun journey of watching Fantasy Football is surreal.  The ups and the downs all change on one play.  May that play benefit ME!!!

Drafting a Championship Team

This past Sunday August 26th, my wife and I held our favorite league’s draft.  FJM.  Thanks to Yahoo for making draft days so much fun with ease.  Not everyone of the 12 teams were able to make to the live draft, but since it was an online draft, they didn’t need to be.  I will have to admit that it is much much funner having everyone present for the draft.  All the banter back and forth is what makes it a success.  Beer and pizza help a little bit.

Since Yahoo does random draft order 30 minutes before the Draft, who knows what order we are going to be in.  Guess who got 1rst pick…ME.   I did not want the #1 pick.  No way, no how.  NOOOOOOOO.  What to do, What to do?  Do I draft any of the top 3 RB’s or do I take a gamble on QB Aaron Rogers?  I took every bit of my 2 minutes allowed to take RB LeSean McCoy.  He has really produced the last couple of seasons.  Plus with Vick being injury prone, the Offense in Philly will run through him.

Many picks later I’m up again.  This time I like my chances because now I get 2 picks in a row.  Love it.   With my 2nd and 3rd picks I grab some young studs at WR.  Victor Cruz and Julio Jones.  I heard a lot of bickering from my fellow draftees in attendance.  HAHA.  I had others targeted but this was too good to pass up.  2 of the top 10 WR’s are mine.  🙂

My 4th and 5th picks come around, I take RB Darren Sproles and a gamble with Peyton Manning.  Who knows how his health is going to be throughout the season.  Watching the first half of the game against the 49er’s, Peyton looked like his old self.  Gave me some confidence in my pick.  This also is a double edge sword for me.  I hate the Denver Broncos.   Now I have to cheer for Manning to do well.  I will love to see him play well but them losing all their games.  That is one wish I want to become true.

TE’s have gone fast.  All the good ones are gone.  My 6th pick is a reach.  The only positive I have with him is his QB.  I take TE Jacob Tamme from the Broncos.  I need another starting WR.  Robert Meachem is still on the board.  Since I am a homer.  He’s mine.  So far my starting line-up is looking pretty good in my eye’s.

The 8th and 9th picks are here.  What to do next.  Defense’s have become the next hot commodity, I take Green Bay’s Defense.  I usually try not to draft rookies.  They are so unpredictable.  I take a gamble on WR Justin Blackmon.  He has a lot of upside.  All my other wants/needs are still on the board.  I can take a risk now for a favorable back-up WR.

I have never seen kickers go this fast EVER.  Once the first kicker was taken, it became a mad house scramble to get a legit kicker.  My 10th pick is Matt Prater, going with my Peyton Manning connection.  If Manning can move the ball like has in the past, Prater will get his chances at points.  Im in need of my first back-up RB.  Rookie David Wilson of the NY Giants is ripe for the taking.  That’s 2 rookies now in my roster.  So far, what i have seen and heard about David Wilson is good.  The NY Giants love the potential combo of Davis with Bradshaw.  I hope so too for my fantasy teams sake.

Back-up QB time.  I was aiming at Jay Cutler but he was grabbed 2 picks before mine.  Ok, who else is serviceable….QB Jake Locker of the Tennessee Titans.  I was also looking at QB Andy Dalton but my wife nabbed him earlier in the round.  My 13th pick has a lot of upside.  Last year this young WR had flashes of greatness.  WR Jon Baldwin.  Lets hope the ball gets thrown his way.

In need of my back-up TE has taken priority over this pick.  He had a fantastic year in 2010.  Injured in 2011, so he was way down on the list, I take TE Tony Moeaki.  All signs are pointing towards a good recovery.  If he is healthy, the sky is the limit with this pick.  My 15th pick, I need another back-up RB.  After watching the Redskins/Colts game on Sat., I noticed that RB Tim Hightower ran very well.  Very Very Well.  I have had him in the past.   He has won me some games in the past.

My last 2 picks.  This year I added an extra roster spot for everyone.   It’s nice to have some power as “The Commish”.  Needing an extra WR, I search for the player that I am very excited about that my Chargers added in the offseason.  WR Eddie Royal.  This could be a late round steal.  His upside is enormous.  He will get a lot of attention on 3rd Downs. Plus he has the potential to return punts which will add to my point totals.  My final pick is for my back-up defense.  Cincinnati is up for the taking.  They create turnovers which   can lead to some defensive scoring.  I’m Ok with that.

There you have it.  My team.  My chance at bringing that Trophy to its rightful home.  MINE.  Overall everyone was happy about their teams, as they should be.  I decided to change my team name to “Dirty Bong Water”.

My first week’s starting line-up is as follows.  QB Peyton Manning. WR’s Victor Cruz, Julio Jones, and Eddie Royal. RB’s LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles with David Wilson in my flex spot.  TE Jacob Tamme.  Defense is Green Bay, and last but not least my kicker is Matt Prater.  Not too shabby.  After looking back, I may go with CIncy’s D for match-up reasons.  I will let you know later.

My quest begins week 1 against last years champ.   Let the run for the trophy begin….
